Rare 3M Textool 244-4961-00 chip carrier socket for 44 pin SMD devices. This is brand new, however it was made in 1982 and the top spring may have a little tarnish (does not affect its performance). When the chip carriers top is locked into position, it holds firmly to every pin on the SMD 44 pin IC without damage. To remove the IC, simply unlock the top lever to remove. The chip carrier is meant to be soldered into a test fixture/burn in fixture PC board and has 44 thru-hole pins on bottom. These are very rare.
